People in Kilinochchi complain that transportation is highly difficult since a large number of rural roads including main roads had been damaged due to floods.

People who were resettled in Kilinochchi district state that roads in Pannankatti, Sivapuram, Periya Paranthan, Urthirapuram, Akkarayan, Maruthanagar, Anandapuram, East Puliyanpokkaneyi, Murusamottei, Yuniyankulam, and Punarin are highly affected and damaged by floods.

They also said that they severely suffer since it was impossible for flood aid teams to reach their villages since the roads are damaged. 

Kilinochchi District received a record rainfall recently with 373.2 mm rain falling on May 16.
