Minister of Water Supply and Urban Development Rauff Hakeem and Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya were severely criticized by the people of Wellampitiya recently when they made inspection tours during the floods.

The people said that no people's representative came to support them and they lived with the help of non-governmental organizations.

The further said that they had to hire boat services with their own money to move out of the flooded areas.

The people hit out at the politicians for making pointless boat trips to flooded areas days after the crisis hit.

These politicians were responsible for creating communal differences in the country, one person was heard shouting at the visiting politicians.
