Sri Lanka's 24 year-old right-arm fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has sustained an injury to his lower back, and will be returning to Colombo for further treatment and rest, Sri Lanka Cricket said.
Chameera, who scalped the seemingly unstoppable Jonny Bairstow on 140, underwent a MRI/CT Scan this morning, which has indicated a stress fracture to his lower back. It is recommended that he undergoes treatment and rest for as much as four months, Sri Lanka Cricket said further.
Medium-fast bowler Dhammika Prasad also returned to Sri Lanka with an injury to his shoulder last week, and is currently undergoing treatment.
National Selectors headed by Sanath Jayasuriya will meet within the next 24 hours, to decide on a suitable replacement for Chameera.
