Former Colombo DIG Anura Senanayake was arrested by the CID over the murder of former Sri Lanka rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.
He was arrested after being questioned for a third day over the murder investigation.
The investigations into his death took place under the direct supervision of Senanayake, in 2012. It has been revealed that Senanayake instructed his junior Police officers to record Thajudeen's death as an "accident".
The former Crimes OIC of the Narahenpita Police was recently arrested over the murder of Wasim Thjudeen. He told CID that he acted on the investigation as per instructions of a senior police officer.
