Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala said that 1500 personnel and 150 ambulances were on alert to provide health requirements of flood victims.

Furthermore, the health services were on alert 24 hours a day for the needs, he added.

The government recently warned people of the possibility of the spread of epidemics due to the floods.

However no indication of a spread of such diseases have been observed.
