Relief items arriving from abroad will be relieved of all taxes as per the advise of the President and the Prime Minister, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake told Parliament today.
The disaster situation was today discussed in Parliament. Minister Rauff Hakeem said that the flood levels in Kelani River basin were going down but the situation will be monitored.
Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa summarized the disaster situation, adding that over 300,000 people displaced by floods were still in 594 camps across the country.
Meanwhile, several countries have expressed their willingness to support Sri Lanka. India said that two ships with relief goods are being sent to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Australia also said that it was ready to support the country.
