Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today urged the people threatened by the floods to leave for safety and that the tri-forces will be deployed to assure the safety of their homes.

He said that the threat of rising water level has not passed and could increase if rains continued.

Some people were not willing to leave their homes despite the rising waters for fear of robbers. However, the tri-forces and police will be deployed from tomorrow morning to assure of the safety of the homes, he said.

He also urged everyone to assist in the disaster management process. “This is not a normal situation” he said.
