Indian Pime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa Jayaram after her surprise victory at the assembly polls.

"Had a telephone conversation with Jayalalithaa ji and congratulated her on her victory. Also conveyed my best wishes to her" Narendra Modi said on Twitter.

Legislative assebly elections was held on 16 May 2016 for the 234 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) led by Jayaram currently has a strident lead with 134 seats out of 234.
