Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's All India Anna Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) defied almost all exit polls and galloped to a comprehensive victory at the Tamil Nadu Elections.
The early leads show a comfortable place for AIADMK which has crossed the half-way mark with a lead in 136 seats. The DMK and Congress alliance is not too far with about 90 seats in lead, the Indian Express said.
Tamil Nadu Assembly has 234 seats.
The People in Tamil Nadu have shown an anti-incumbency trand in the past few decades and this election stands as a historic moment for the AIADMK.
Police was deployed in front of Jayalalithaa's residence as jubilant supporters convened to celebrate. In contrast, the DMK headquarters looked deserted.
