The Minister of Foreign Affairs will hold a briefing at 2.00 p.m. today for foreign Heads of Mission on flood situation, relief operations and requirements, Ministry Spokesperson Mahisini Colonne said on Twitter.

More than 25,000 have been evacuated from Colombo as the water level is still rising in the Kelani River. Meanwhile, more than 120 are still missing from the landslide site in Aranayake. Nearly 400,00 people have been affected by the torrential rains and related disasters.

"Terrible to hear about the devastation caused to people's lives by the floods in #Sri Lanka. Our thoughts are with families of the victims" the EU mission in Sri Lanka said on Twitter last night.
