Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today issued notice to Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage to appear before the CID on May 25 at 9.00 a.m. to give a statement on the alleged possession of an elephant without a valid licence.
The Chief Magistrate made this order considering a submission by the CID. The CID said that Thilina Gamage was summoned to the CID on two occasions to record a statement but he failed to appear.
The Additional Magistrate was recently named a suspect in the case by the Attorney General.
The elephant was found in Gamage's residence in early 2015.
