Water levels of the Kelani river in the Colombo area have exceeded 7 meters and is rising rapidly.

Authorities request the public in the Kolonnawa, Wellampitiya, Kotikawatte and surrounding areas to evacuate immediately.

Furthermore, the public is requested not to stay on rooftops since the water levels are expected to rise further in the next few hours.
