Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force have been deployed to rescue 212 people trapped due to floods in Thabbowa, Puttalam District.

They were trapped in Thabbowa No 1 village after sluice gates of the Tabbova tank were opened due to rising water levels.

Navy boats and SLAF helicopters have been deployed in the rescue mission, which is proving to be difficult due to heavy rains and winds.
