The water level in Kelani River has been rising rapidly. The DMC warns people of possible small scale to large scale flooding in the low lying areas along the river valley.

The people of the following areas are adviced to be vigilant of the situation.

Lower Hanwella, Upper Hanwella, Niripola, Diddeniya, Attygalla, Ranala, Embulegama, Nawagamuwa, Bomiriya, Malwana, Biyagama, Kelaniya, Ambatale, Wellampitiya, Grandpass, New Kandy Bridge
