Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa asked him to visit the Rupavahini Corporation to inquire about a matter and it was on Rajapaksa's request that he went there, former Minister Mervyn Silva said commenting on the clash which occurred at the Rupavahini Corporation.

He claimed that he had no reason to visit the SLRC that day and he was there on Rajapaksa's request.

Silva also said that the information on his visit was given to the SLRC before he was there.

The said clash occurred in December 2007 when Silva was attacked by some enraged employees of the SLRC.
