Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today released the passport of former Minister Johnston Fernando for a period of one week for him to travel to Singapore.
Fernando's passport has been impounded in relation to five cases filed by the Bribery Commission for not declaring his assets and liabilities for the years from 2010 to 2014.
He made a request for the release of his passport from May 20 to 25 to travel to Singapore for his wife's medical treatment.
The Magistrate allowed the passport to be released from May 20 to 27. The Bribery Commission did not object.
