Three flights scheduled to land at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake were diverted to Cochin, India, and Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport, Mattala, last night and this morning.

A Jet Air flight from Mumbai was diverted to Cochin last night and a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was also diverted there shortly after midnight.

Meanwhile, a FlyDubai flight was diverted to Mattala in the early hours of today.

Katunayake has seen torrential rains measuring to 248mm during the past 24 hours.
