The alleged underworld criminal known as 'Army Sampath' was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) today in Slave Island, Colombo, the police said.

He was arrested with along with another individual. The police also seized a firearm from the possession of Sampath.

He was expected to be handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) for future investigations.

Sampath was suspected for the shooting of an election gathering in Colombo in July 2015.
