Heavy rain falls of around 150 mm are likely at some places across the island today (14), particularly in the southern half, the Met Department announced.
It also said that the atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka is likely to develop further.
Under its influence, windy and showery weather over the country and surrounding sea area is expected to be enhanced by today evening. Most parts of the island will see cloudy skies due to the weather, the Met Department also said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces, it further predicted, adding that thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly during the afternoon and night.
