The OIC of police SIU and the AG were issued notice by the Colombo High Court on yesterday over a revision application filed by former MP Tiran Alles.
Alles filed the revision application requesting the High Court to overturn the decision by the Fort Magistrate not to release his passport.
Through his lawyers, Alles filed a request at the Fort Magistrate Court late last month to have his passport released for six weeks.
However, Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne refused the request, saying that it could not be entertained as he was a suspect of a serious financial fraud.
In 2015, Tiran Alles was questioned by Police over the alleged provision of money to Tiger guerrillas through the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA), of which he was the Chairman. The investigation is been handled by the SIU which is under the purview of the IGP. Alles's passport was impounded during the Magisterial inquiry on the alleged fraud.
