The Sri Lanka Medical Council informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday that preliminary investigations have been carried out on the first autopsy on the body of former Havelock's Captain Wasim Thajudeen and there was a prima facie case against the JMO panel led by former Colombo Chief JMO Dr Ananda Samarasekara.

They have been issued charge sheets by the Medical Council and a disciplinary committee will investigate the matter, the Medical Council informed court when the inquiry on the murder of Wasim Thajudeen was taken up yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Medical Council was directed to carry out an inquiry on the first JMO report. The JMO report was submitted two and a half years after the autopsy. Meanwhile, there were discrepancies in the first and the second JMO reports. The second postmortem conducted by a team of doctors led by Dr. Ajith Tennakoon revealed that Thajudeen's death was a murder, while the team also informed court that some bone fragments on Thajudeen's leg were missing.
