Former MP Sajin De Vass Gunawardena’s residence in Cotta Road, Borella, was inspected by the Criminal Investigation Department.

The investigation was ordered by the Fort Magistrate's Court. Several documents had taken into CID custody related to an investigation into a money laundering case.

The case which was filed against Gunawardena by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over his failure to declare his assets during several years including in 2011 and 2012, was taken up by Colombo Additional Magistrate on 11th May.

However, Gunawardena’s lawyers requested the court for time to obtain necessary papers from the Parliament. Hence the case was adjourned till 15th September.
