Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa who was produced before Matara Chief Magistrate Uresha De Silva was released on a bail.
The Magistrate set a cash bail of Rs.50 000 with three sureties of Rs.1 million each and ordered to submit Rajapaksa’s passport to the court.
Rajapaksa was arrested when he arrived at FCID this morning to give a statement on an alleged fraud regarding the purchase of a land in Brownhill, Matara.
The case was fixed for July 20.
