Around 50 workers commenced a Satyagraha inside the Bogala Graphite Mine, around 1670 feet from the surface, based on several demands including a salary increase.

The inter-company workers’ union said that the strike action and Satyagraha was launched against the failure to increase wages and for the violation of workers’ rights. Some workers have not even been provided with uniforms, the workers said.

While the protest is being carried out underground, other workers have launched a protest above ground.
