President Maithripala Sirisena has summoned several SLFP seniors for a meeting this evening, political sources said.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at the official residence of the President at 7pm today.
This meeting comes amidst a debate within the SLFP as to what its decision should be regarding the MPs who attended the Kirulapone May rally.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday hinted that they will be given a pardon in a bid to preserve party unity.
Meanwhile, it was reported that several 'Joint Opposition' MPs are holding talks with SLFP seniors on a personal level to come to an amicable settlement between the pro-Rajapaksa and pro-Sirisena camps.
