A local politician of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, S. Sivakaran, was arrested by the Terrorist Investigations Division yesterday in Mannar.

He was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. However, the TID has not given any particular reason for the arrest.

Sivakaran is the leader of the Mannar youth wing in the ITAK.

ITAK is the largest constituent party of the Tamil National Alliance.
