Following the death of two schoolgirls in a train accident on Monday night, some concerned individuals have questioned the lack of safety precautions on the rail track near the Barracuda Restaurant in Dehiwela.

The crossing from the car park towards the restaurant is unprotected as it can be seen by these google screen view images.

There is no gate, warning sign or any other precautionary measure.

Preliminay investigations have indicated that the two girls did not see the train approaching when they crossed the rail track. A warning system, if present, would have been able to prevent such an accident.
