A hand grenade was recovered from a drain in Vavuniya yesterday along with a NIC of a powerful Tamil politician from the area.

The grenade was discovered following a tip-off and the STF defused it later.

The police recorded a statement from the politician. In his statement, he has claimed that it must have been the handiwork of one of his opponents.
