Dairy farmers protested in Nuwara Eliya yesterday, against the new budget proposals, by throwing away fresh milk.

Protesters said that local milk powder prices were lowered by the budget proposals. As a result, dairy companies had reduced their powder milk production. Therefore, the dairy farmers are unable to sell their produce to the companies, the protesters said.
