The joint opposition is not prepared to believe in promises made by the government if they are not included in a written document, UPFA MP Ranjith Soyza said.
Speaking to Asian Mirror regarding the budget he said that different members of the government were giving various promises regarding the budget proposals. However, if they are not included in a written document, they can never be trusted upon, he said.
Furthermore, he insisted that the government should have a uniformity in its promises regarding the budget. While the Finance Minister says one thing, the Prime Minister says another. While the UNP members say one thins, SLFP members say another, Soyza argued.
The joint opposition will oppose the budget on its Third Reading on December 19, he further maintained.
