The Cinnamon Gardens Police filed a case at the Colombo Magistrate's Court against former Rakna Lanka General Manager Major General (retired) Gamini Jayasundara.

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources, and Privileges (PRECIFAC) earlier recommended legal action against Major General Jayasundara, for giving false evidence before the Commission. It also complained to the Cinnamon Gardens Police on the matter.

Jayasundara later admitted to giving false evidence to save former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the PRECIFAC investigation into Rakna Lanka.
