The Convener of the Teacher-Principal Trade Union Joshep Stalin said that the trade Union made a written request to the Commissioner of Examinations to postpone the G.C.E Ordinary Level Examination paper which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday (15).
The trade union made this request in view of the general strike which is planned to be launched at midnight today by trade unions of the government, semi-government and private sector employees.
As a result of that the services of many sectors will be at a standstill, Stalin asserted. Therefore, the Teacher-Principal Union urged the Examinations Commissioner to take the matter into consideration and postpone the paper, he said.
However, the Examinations Department is yet to make any decision on the matter. As of now, the examination will be held as planned.
