An Inspector of Police attacked to the Kirulapona Police was interdicted over the attack on HNDA students on October 29.
The Human Rights Commission recently directed the police to pay compensation to several students who were attacked and recommended disciplinary action against the police personnel who took part in the attack.
The police used water cannon and tear gas on protesting HNDA students near the UGC on October 29, before baton charging them.
The students accused police of indiscriminately attacking them. The police rejected any attack took place, despite clear photographic evidence.
The students complained to the HRC, which delivered its decision recently.
