Government is trying to conceal information reaching the public, said Deepthi Kumara Gunaratne, the editor of Sathhanda newspaper.

He said this after giving a statement to the CID over an article published in Sathhanda regarding the Avant Garde issue.  Gunaratne and the Deputy Editor Subhash Jayawardane to be queried on an interview with Avant Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi. Three Cabinet Ministers had complained that their reputations were tarnished by some comments made by Senadhipathi.

Government would be discredited sooner than the former government if this manner of mistreating journalists continued, said Gunaratne.
