The party leaders will decide on a date to debate the no-confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said today in Parliament.
He said this responding to a question raised by UPFA MP Bandula Gunawardena.
Gunawardena asked the government to give a date for the debate of the motion.
However, Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella objected, saying that the no-confidence motion has already been defeated since the budget was approved by a two thirds majority on the Second Reading.
The 'joint opposition' handed over the no-confidence motion, on the grounds that Karunanayake had misled the Parliament on the expenses for education sector allocated through the budget.
