A 28-year-old woman was killed and seven others injured when a van skidded and crashed onto the safety fence near the 73km post on the Southern Expressway.

The van belonged to the Agricultural Insurance Board and was travelling from Colombo to Galle when the accident occurred.

The deceased is from Ratnapura area.

The injured have been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.
