Former Chairman of Securities and Exchanges Commission Nalaka Godahewa was arrested a short while ago by the police Financial Crimes Investigation Division.

Godahewa appeared at the FCID this morning to give a statement on an alleged fraud in the SEC. The alleged incident had taken place in 2013.

He had been summoned by the FCID on Saturday but he requested for an alternate date as he was out of home.

The police recently arrested two individuals in connection with irregularities at the SEC.
