In the first, and possibly only major surprise at the budget vote, Opposition SLFP MP Lakshman Seneviratne voted in support of the budget.

A former Minister, Seneviratne was defeated at the recent General Election, but was selected to Parliament following the resignation of Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

Seneviratne, however, remained in the opposition of the Parliament.
