While essentially accepting the budget proposals as a whole, Minister S.B. Dissanayake said today that several key proposals in it should be amended.
Speaking at the Parliament, he said that the amalgamation of the Divi Neguma Fund with the National Savings Bank should not be carried out.
Furthermore, the proposed amalgamation of the Employee Provident Fund and Employees Trust Fund should be reconsidered, he said.
He also argued that the vehicle permits should be provided for public servants. Meanwhile, the dispute on the expenditure for education sector should be explained, and the exact amount allocated must be revealed, he said.
However, Dissanayake commended several measures introduced through the budget, including the incentives given to micro, small and medium enterprises.
