The Government Medical Officers’ Association threatened to launch an island-wide strike from 8.00am tomorrow, as the authorities failed to respond to its key issues with respect several proposals suggested in the Budget 2016, GMOA Secretary Dr. Nalinda Herath said.
Dr. Herath, issuing a statement today, said that the decision was taken after an urgent Central Committee meeting which was held at the GMOA head office.
The GMOA insists that the authorities should not to cut privileges provided for doctors. If it is carried out, the GMOA will resort to strike action in protest, the statement said.
The statement also called for a practical solution for the issues before the Budget 2016 was approved by the Parliament.
