The officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the Colombo Magistrate's Court today that the Narahenpita Police OIC was also being investigated for involvement in allegedly soliciting a bribe.
The Narahenpita Crimes OIC was arrested on Friday while accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 million.
However, the complainant said that the demand for a bribe had been made through the OIC. The Crimes OIC had arrived to accept the bribe.
It was also said that the initial demand had been Rs 8 million.
The arrested police officer also told courts on Saturday that the OIC was involved in the case, reports said.
The Bribery officials said that the decision on whether to arrest the Narahenpita OIC will be taken according to the instructions of the Bribery Commissioner.
The arrested police officer was remanded till December 7.
