Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella says that there is no need for students to protest since the government is ready to listen and negotiate with students any time.

Kiriella stated this today, at the parliament.

Minister also claimed that he notified students to come for a discussion yesterday and he stayed at the parliament expecting them but nobody showed up.

Furthermore, he said that they are here to 'look after' the students.
