The Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday turned down a police request to issue an order to prevent the protest march in Colombo, organized by the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF).

The IUSF is to conduct a protest march today, at the culmination of its march from Kandy to Colombo.

The march in Colombo is to begin from in front of the Fort Railway Station.

Fort Police requested the magistrate to issue an order to prevent the march protest and issue notices on the organizers when the police filed a b-report yesterday, to the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court.

However, Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage refused the request and ordered the police to proceed within their power without causing public disturbances.
