An 18-year-old student of Kokkuvil Hindu College has committed suicide, demanding the release all Tamil 'political prisoners' immediately.

The incident occurred at Kokkuvil Railway Station this morning. It is said that the student, Rajeswaran Senthuran, committed suicide by leaping in front of a moving train.

Before committing suicide, Senturan has written a letter addressing president Maithripala Sirisena. Through this letter, he had demanded that the president should release all Tamil political prisoners immediately.

He had stated that those inmates do not deserve to be in prisons for this long.

Therefore, the 'good governance' government's failure to release political inmates is a disappointment, he had mentioned in the letter.
