The 'Joint Opposition' met the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka at the Russian Embassy yesterday, to discuss the current situation in Sri Lanka.

Following the meeting, former Foreign Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris told media that they mainly discussed on the threat to national security posed by certain measures of the government and the position of the 'Joint Opposition' regarding the matter.

Peiris was joined in the meeting by Udaya Gammanpila, Dallas Alahappaeruma and several others.

The Joint Opposition said that it was planning on meeting other envoys in near future.
