Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the police to file charge sheets against Western Provincial Council Member Upali Kodikara on a case of contempt of court.

The Magistrate gave this decision after considering a motion filed by the police.

The police informed the Magistrate that Kodikara had failed to report to the Cinnamon Gardens police on two occasions as per his bail conditions.

Kodikara was recently given bail in a case of allegedly obstructing the police. He was to report to the Cinnamon Gardens Police each Sunday as part of the bail conditions.
