United National Party parliamentarians have started hitting out at Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva over his recent remarks on the government.

The incident which triggered the outburst is a statement Nimal Siripala De Silva made at a recent meeting in Bandarawela. The Minister stated that there is no good governance under the present government.

Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando said that Cabinet Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva criticizing good governance is a shameless act.

Speaking to BBC yesterday, Fernando said that a minister like De Silva who has lost all 9 seats out of 9 seats in his district would have not been appointed as a cabinet minister if not for good governance.

“It is a shameless act to criticize good governance while he still is a Cabinet Minister”, he said.

Ranjan Ramanayake, Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare has shared a similar idea on his Facebook page.

“We should have never given ministry positions to people like Nimal Siripala Silva, but that is Yahapalanaya giving all the opportunity. But I can only say Nimal Siripala Silva can only dream and sleep”, Ramanayake has stated.
