The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has launched an investigation into Avant Guard private security firm, its Director General Dilrukshi Wickramasinghe said.

Director General Wickramasinghe made this remark at a press conference a short while ago. The commissions’ inquiry is based on the Attorney General’s observation that action could be taken against the company over charges of bribery and money laundry.

However, the Director General also said further information on the Avant Guard inquiry could not be released to media at this point.

Addressing the press conference, the Director General said to police officers, who were absorbed recently into the commission would start their operations from today.
