President Maithripala Sirisena pledged to take all possible steps to abolish executive presidency according to the late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera.

He made this pledge speaking at the funeral of Sobitha Thera at Parliament Grounds a short while ago.

President Sirisena also said that he will take steps to change the electoral system.

Sobitha Thera led the National Movement for Social Justice and continued to urge for the total abolishment of the executive presidency.
