The Attorney General will file applications at courts on Wednesday seeking the release of some 31 suspects who have been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, Commissioner General of Prisons Rohana Pushpakumara said in a statement.
Applications will be filed for the release of another batch of 32 suspects later, the statement said further.
Only those with 'bailable offenses’ will be released, Pushpakumara further said. He added that the decision was taken after several rounds of discussions with the President, the Prime Minister and the AG Department.
